Two sisters crushed to death

LAHORE, June 18: Two sisters were crushed to death while their younger sister and an elder brother sustained injuries by a speeding truck in Harbanspura on Monday. Police said Shahan, 17, of Ghaziabad, was on way on his motorcycle (LWO-1610) along his sisters Beenish, 15, Urooj, 12 and Hina, 6.

As they reached Defence Road near Qalandarpura, a truck (RID 2959) hit the motorcycle from the rear as a result of which they fell on the road and sustained injuries.

The driver managed to escape from the scene leaving the truck.

The injured were rushed to the Mayo Hospital where doctors pronounced Beenish and Urooj dead on arrival. Shahan and Hina were stated to be in critical condition.

No case was registered till the filing of this report.

GANGS BUSTED: Old Anarkali and Badami Bagh police claimed on Monday to have apprehended six members of two gangs and seized looted valuables besides illegal weapons from their possession.

The accused confessed to 66 crimes of dacoity, motorcycle theft and street crime during preliminary interrogation.

A team, led by the Anarkali SPO, nabbed Noor alias Noora, Asif Langra and Nadeem of inter-district Noora motorcycle lifter gang and recovered 14 stolen motorcycles, spare parts and illegal weapons from them.

Another team, headed by the Badami Bagh SPO, arrested Sabir Husain alias Gachhu, Danish and Amjad alias Billa of Gachhu gang and seized two water pumps, a television set, one bicycle, three cell phones and illegal arms. —Staff Reporter
