LAKKI MARWAT, June 18: The residents of Wanda Rehmana on Monday held a protest demonstration in front of the office of the deputy manager (operations) of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) against a week-long power breakdown.

The protesters led by deputy general-secretary of the Awami National Party gathered in front of the office of the DM(O) of Pesco on the Lakki-Darra Tang road.

They said that power supply to their village had been cut off for the last one week due to breakage of a power cable. They said the villagers lodged complaints with the local authorities concerned but nobody bothered to take prompt measures for removal of the fault.

They threatened to block the road and besiege the offices of Pesco if the faulty cable line was not repaired within 24 hours.

Later, the assistant manager (operations) of Pesco, Lakki Marwat sub-division, held talks with the protesters and assured them that the damaged line would be repaired and power supply to the village would be restored.
