ISLAMABAD, June 18: The government on Monday announced the appointment of Murad Ali as the ambassador of Pakistan to the Republic of Korea. Mr Ali who born on Oct 3, 1954 and holds a masters degree in Defence and Strategic Studies. He joined the foreign service on April 5, 1980.

Mr Ali has held various diplomatic assignments in Pakistani missions abroad, including Tripoli, Libya (1983-86); Seoul, South Korea (1988-91); Abu Dhabi, UAE (1992); Los Angeles (USA) (1993- 95); Baghdad, Iraq (1999-01) and London, UK (2002-05). Murad Ali, who served at the headquarters as a section officer (1987) and director (1996-98), is presently serving as director general at headquarters since July 30, 2005.—APP
