HYDERABAD, June 18: The Hyderabad Grand Alliance has accused the MQM and the government of deleting the names of voters of opposition parties from the voters lists. The convener of the alliance Abdul Rehman Rajput, Maulana Taj Mohammad Nahiyoon, Abdul Waheed Qureshi, Amanullah Siyal and others were speaking at a corner meeting at the Phulelli tanga stand on Sunday night.

They said that the names of bogus voters had been included in the lists. They said that the MQM has resorted to pre-election rigging to pave way for a clean sweep.

They alleged that the names of MQM voters have been registered in more than one constituency.

They said, due to the conspiracies of the MQM and Sindh government, the province will not receive its due share in the NFC award. They demanded that the forthcoming elections should be held on the basis of the voters lists of 2002.

Meanwhile, Ameer Jamat-i-Islami Hyderabad, Shaikh Shoukat Ali, has demanded that the last date for registration of voters should be extended up to July 31.

In a statement issued here on Monday, he said that many errors had been detected in the new voters lists and the names of hundreds of eligible voters have not been registered in the fresh lists.—Bureau
