Landi Kotal, June 17: Officials of the tribal administration at the Pakistan-Afghan border on Sunday foiled an attempt to smuggle a minor girl into Afghanistan by her some distant relatives.

The Afghan girl was kidnapped three days ago from Rasheed Town in Peshawar. The officials said that the two alleged kidnappers had kept the girl in their home in Bacha Mena area near the border for two days.

On Sunday when they were trying to cross the border with the girl, border guards inquired about the girl. The kidnappers got panicked and slipped away, leaving the girl behind, they added.

The officials said that the two had abducted the girl in revenge as they had a monetary dispute with the father of the girl, Naib Khan.

The girl was later handed over to her father.

Man Drowns: A young man drowned in a stream in the Loe Shalman area on Sunday.

Ikramullah, 25, was swimming in the stream called ‘khooni dhand’ (the killer lake), a name given following several incidents of drowning in it, when he lost balance and plunged into deep water. His body was fished out by the locals.

Due to presence of a waterfall and moving water the place is a source of attraction for people.
