KARACHI, June 16: Prof (Dr) Ronaq Raza Naqvi, ex-chairman of Karachi University’s chemistry department, passed away in Tehran on Friday night.He left behind a widow, three daughters, son and a large number of students and colleagues to mourn his death.

Dr Ronaq Raza, who retired as a Dean Faculty of Science in January 2003, was educated in Jamia Millia College and Chemistry Department of Karachi University for his BSc and MSc degrees respectively. In 1970, he was awarded PhD degree in X-ray Crystallography from Cambridge University.

Apart from his academic pursuits, he was at forefront in social activities of teachers’ community at the University of Karachi.
