KARACHI, March 4: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has urged both Muslims and Hindus to follow the dictates of their religions and pay respect to each others’ beliefs.

Expressing concern over recent killings in India, Mr Hussain said the Hindus and Muslims should not to play in the hands of those who were defying their religions.

He said he was shocked over the killing of innocent people, including women and children, who were mercilessly killed without committing any crime or a sin. He also recalled his statement of Sept 17, 2000, and maintained that he was then termed a traitor for his observations.

“More than 500 innocent persons have been killed, including Muslims and Hindus in he recent riots. Now the question arises as to who should be blamed for the current riots and killings”, Mr Altaf said.
