CHESTER-LE-STREET, June 15: Vikram Solanki will captain England Lions, the new name for the England ‘A’ side, against West Indies in a one-day tour match next week, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Friday.

Worcestershire skipper Solanki will lead the side at his New Road home ground on Thursday with his players looking to remind the selectors of their One-day International credentials.

England face the West Indies in two Twenty20 matches at The Oval, the first on June 28, before taking on the tourists in three full One-day Internationals in the first week of July.

Solanki, a top-order batsman, has played 51 One-day Internationals for England, the last against Sri Lanka at Headingley in July 2006.

Among those in the 12-man squad is Paul Nixon, England's wicket-keeper at the World Cup, as well as batsman Ed Joyce and pace bowler James Anderson who also played in the Caribbean.
