DADU, June 14: The Shahbaz Express escaped a disaster on Thursday as the train engine caught fire but its driver stopped the train near Sann railway station and passengers and area people separated the bogies from the burning engine.
Fire erupted in the engine of Shahbaz Express 309-down going from Rohri to Kotri near Sann railway station. The engine was completely burnt.
Other trains on the track were stopped at Bhan Saeedabad and Kotri stations.
The passengers of the Shahbaz Express had to endure six-hour wait for another engine to reach from Kotri and take the train to its destination.
LONG MARCH: The long march of concerned citizens and social workers to highlight Dadu Civil Hospital affairs reached Bubak town on Thursday.
The 200-km march from Dadu to Hyderabad along Indus Highway began on Wednesday in protest against the doctors, paramedical staff and the administration of the hospital for not providing proper care to patients, sale of hospital medicines to private medical stores and death of six new born babies due to alleged negligence of the doctors.
Five participants fell unconscious due to scorching heat near Bubak. They were taken to the Sehwan taluka hospital.
Young Citizens Welfare Association president Qaim Ali Siyal is leading the march.
