PESHAWAR, June 13: Germany has reiterated its support for the NWFP government in the health sector. Ambassador Dr Gunter Mulack at a meeting with Provincial Health Minister Inayatullah Khan on Wednesday discussed various health projects launched in the province through the financial and technical assistance of the German government. The functioning of the Health Sector Reforms Unit, TB control programme and other German-assisted programmes also came under discussion.
Principal Technical adviser of the German Technical Cooperation Bernd Appelt, apprised the ambassador of the health sector activities in the NWFP funded by the German government.
The minister briefed the ambassador on the reforms agenda of the MMA government and appreciated the support of the German government.
He said that many reforms were introduced, including decentralisation, management models, social health insurance and hospital autonomy, with the help of the German government.
He assured the ambassador that the Frontier province would remain committed to the reforms’ programme even after the change of government.
Later, the ambassador visited the Lady Reading Hospital where he was briefed by the hospital’s Chief Executive Dr Abdus Samad Khan.
