PESHAWAR, June 12: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan will be warmly received at the Islamabad airport upon his arrival from London on Thursday, his party announced.

During his stay in UK, Mr Khan met members of the British parliament and jurists in connection with the filing of a case against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leadership allegedly for sponsoring the carnage in Karachi on May 12.

PTI vice-president Mian Mukarram Shah told a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday that the party workers had been directed to reach the airport in large numbers to receive the chairman, who is scheduled to land at 7am.

Mr Shah alleged that MQM chief Altaf Hussain was not a political leader but the head of `organised gangsters’.

“MQM is involved in the killing of hundreds of innocent people for no fault of theirs through its 3,000 armed gangsters. The same group is also responsible for shooting over 48 Karachiites on May 12, who were out on the streets to receive Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry,” he said.
