LAHORE, June 11: Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that national politics will soon have a `pleasant weather after hot summer’. He was addressing a seminar on `Media’s responsibilities in the prevailing situation of the country’, organized by Punjab Union of Journalist (PUJ) at Lahore Press Club on Monday.

He said that process of democracy would move ahead in the Country, adding that President Musharraf woul be re-elected after completion of his present tenure and the opposition would fail in its plans.

The minister said that freedom of media was pride of A nation and the government fully acknowledge it. The withdrawal of amended PEMRA ordinance, he added, reflected the “positive thinking and commitment of the government towards media freedom.”

PFUJ’s Syed Enwar Kidwai said that media would never bow before any pressure and continue showing both sides of the picture to guide and educate the citizens as well as the people in the helm of affairs.—APP
