CHARSADDA, June 11: In an honour-killing incident, a girl was killed and her fiance received multiple injuries when they were attacked by the girl’s former fiance in Tarnab area late on Sunday night.

The marriage of the deceased Ms Shazia, with her fiance Mr Nasir was due to take place within a week’s time.

Police claimed that the alleged murderer and former fiance Liaqat was annoyed over the annulment of his engagement and had attacked the couple to avenge his honour.

The couple were rushed to a local hospital where Ms Shazia was pronounced dead on arrival. Nasir was shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar for further treatment.

Boy drowns: A 13-year-old boy drowned in a canal while crossing over a bridge at Abazai area. A search was underway in the area on Monday to recover the body. The boy Shafique hailed from Punjab and was visiting his uncle in the area.
