KARACHI, June 11: Justice Muneeb Ahmed Khan of the Sindh High Court suspended on Monday the sentence awarded to the driver of a trailer for knocking down and killing an eight-year-old girl.

While admitting the appeal of Bakht Zada against his conviction, the judge ordered the release of the applicant against a surety of Rs750,000.

The man was handed down a five-year term on May 21 by an additional district and sessions judge for killing Irum, daughter of Mohammed Yousuf, on Oct 23, 2004 in Defence.

Bakht Zada, who was on bail, was taken into judicial custody after the trial court convicted him.
