Robber killed in ‘shootout’

RAJANPUR, June 8: Police killed a member of the Ghulam Rasool alias Chottu Bakrani gang after a 20-hour encounter with robbers in Shahwali, Rojhan tehsil, on Friday, while other members of the gang fled.

Police reportedly raided a hideout in the area to arrest the robbers at 3pm on Thursday. The robbers fired at police with rocket launchers. The police retaliated and the crossfire continued for 20 hours. When the robbers stopped firing, police searched their hideout and found weapons and the body of a robber who was later identified as Yousaf Ghogo.

Police said that robbers Shobi, Din Muhammad, Ghogo, Haider, Ahmad, Shanba, Bashir, Iqbal, Mahmood, Ayub and their 10-12 accomplices were firing from the hideout, but they fled during the crossfire. — Correspondent
