KARACHI, June 7: A two-day workshop on Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) will commence at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) on Friday. According to the head of the JPMC’s head and neck surgery department, S M Tariq Rafi, FESS was a new technique guaranteeing less morbidity and hospitalisation as its results were better than the conventional methods.

The technique had recently been introduced in Pakistan and the JPMC had pioneered the use of this procedure, Dr Rafi added.

As many as 12 postgraduate students will take part in the hands-on endoscopic surgery, while another 12 will act as observers.

JPMC Executive Director Prof Rasheed Jooma will inaugurate the workshop at 8.30am while Prof Zaki Helal from Cairo will be the master trainer at the workshop.
