KARACHI, June 6: The Karachi Naib Nazim, Nasrin Jalil, has said that the purchase of machines to detect water theft will start from the next fiscal. These machines will detect illegal water connections and help in controlling incidents of water theft.

In the first phase (during the next six months), new water meters will be installed in commercial and industrial areas and later in residential units, phase-wise.

The naib nazim was speaking at a meeting with the KWSB MD, Ghulam Arif Khan, and the nazims of various union councils at her office on Wednesday.

She said that the water meters installed in industrial areas are either out of order or have completed their lifespan and need replacement.—APP
