HYDERABAD, June 5: Journalists across Sindh protested on Tuesday against blocking of transmission of two private TV channels and amendments to Pemra Ordinance.

Journalists under the aegis of Hyderabad Union of Journalists (HUJ) demonstrated outside the press club. Senior journalists Abdul Hafeez Abid, Shahid Sheikh, and the HUJ office-bearers Farhan Effendi, Yasin Rahi, Adeel Pathan led demonstrators.

Protesters raised slogans against the government, and condemned registration of case against newsmen in Islamabad. They also criticised the government for blocking transmission of TV channels, an attempt to browbeat the journalist community.

NAWABSHAH: Journalists of Nawabshah staged a protest demonstration outside local press club. They carried banners and placards and raised slogans against the government.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Anwar Shaikh, Aslam Munir, Hakim Khaskheli, Ismail Domki and others said that the government had blocked the transmission of some news channels and has also amended the Pemra ordinance which was a tool to curb press freedom.

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Journalists took out a rally from local the press club and after marching on different roads came back. They condemned the amendments in Pemra ordinance.
