SWABI, June 5: About 1,200 patients suffering from various diseases, including at least 200 children, were treated at a free medical camp held here on Tuesday.

The camp was made possible by the Pakistan Tobacco Company in collaboration with the Layton Rehmatullah Benevolent Trust, Akora Khattak, and Merck. It was inaugurated by Swabi MPA Dr M. Salim.

Jawad Rasool of the PTC said his company planned to set up three water filtration plants in Buner district and one each in Mansehra, Sher Gar-Mardan and Swabi this year.

Sartaj Khan, the PTC area manager, told journalists that the main objective of the camp was to provide free treatment to the poverty-stricken patients of Swabi, Charbagh, Salim Khan, Maneri Bala, Maneri Payyan, Kernel Sher Kili, Gohati and Razar.
