ISLAMABAD, June 2: Imam-i-Kaaba Al-Sheikh Abdur Rehman Al-Sudais on Saturday led Zohar prayers at the Aiwan-i-Sadr mosque. President Gen Pervez Musharraf, Pakistan Muslim League president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, federal ministers and the Aiwan-i-Sadr staff attended the congregation.

The Imam-i-Kaaba prayed for the solidarity, progress and prosperity of the Ummah. He also prayed for peace and sectarian harmony in Pakistan and the success of the president’s efforts for economic development of the country and unity of the Ummah.

Earlier, President Gen Musharraf welcomed the Imam-i-Kaaba at the Aiwan-i-Sadr.

The Imam during his brief meeting with the president discussed the challenges faced by the Ummah and the need for collective efforts for peace and development.

“Islam is a religion of peace and harmony and abhors extremism and terrorism,” said the Imam-i-Kaaba. The Imam-i-Kaaba also conveyed a special message of King Abdullah and other Saudi leaders to President Gen Musharraf.—APP
