LARKANA, June 1: Nasirabad police station came under attack on Friday. Police baton charged and fired tear gas to disperse the mob which had attacked the police station over detention of two persons, including vice president of the Sindh National Alliance Nawaz Ali Kalhoro.

According to report the SHO Nasirabad had summoned Nawaz Ali Kalhoro and Ayaz Ali of Wadho Kalhoro village on the complaint of Dr Bhemandas.

The accused used threats and abusive language against complainant. When asked to behave they began quarrelling with the SHO. The SHO after beating arrested them which irked the Kalhora community.

Villagers after surrounding the police station began pelting stones on which police resorted to baton charge, used tear gas shells and fired few shots in the air to control the situation. The ASI Ali Hassan Mirani was injured while police arrested some 10 people.

Three FIRs were registered with the police by Kanaya Lal, brother of Bhemandas and the SHO.

Kanaya Lal accused Nawaz Ali Kalhoro and his nephew Ayaz Ali, Shaman Ali and Mulazim Ali for refusing to hand over the produce of 72 acres of land to him.

The SHO in a duty hindrance case nominated Nawaz Ali Kalhoro and Ayaz Ali. Police registered the third FIR of attacking police station. Police booked 41 persons - 21 identified and 20 unknown.Those nominated included Hamid Ali, Shahid Ali, Amanat Ali, Kifayat Ali, and others.

The DPO Qambar-Shahdadkot Rana Sanaullah later arrived at the scene and suspended Ayaz Ali. The situation in the area was tense.
