TIMERGARA (Lower Dir), June 1: Two persons, including a woman, were killed in the Wari area of Upper Dir district on Friday morning. Naheed Bibi, a 25-year-old widow, and one Bakht Shaad Zaib were allegedly killed by her in-laws in the Asori village.

Both wanted to marry each other but Naheed’s in-laws were opposed to it. The incident appears to be an honour-related killing.

Wari police refused to register a case against the alleged murderers and warned journalists against reporting the incident. Local elders held a jirga in April 2006 and had announced that ‘honour-related killing’ cases would not be reported to the police.
