GUJRANWALA, May 31: Three bandits plundered Rs950,000 in cash from the zonal office of an insurance company and injured the guard on GT Road here on Thursday. Reports said that the outlaws, who escaped recently from a jail, entered the company in Din Plaza. After holding the staff and others at pistol point, they collected cash and injured the guard when he tried to resist.

Even though the officials of the Elite Force and Model Town and Dhulley police besieged the plaza, the bandits managed to escape.

RELEASED: Around 89 prisoners involved in minor cases were released by the district and sessions judge here on Thursday.

Reports said that the judge visited the district jail and ordered to release the prisoners after checking of their record. He also took a round of jail hospital, barracks and the kitchen.

Jail superintendent Mian Shaukat Ali and other senior officers also accompanied the judge.

SEIZED: Peoples Colony police claimed to have recovered four maunds of hashish and seven kilogram opium from a drug pusher here on Thursday.

On a tip that a sizable contraband was present in a house, a police party raided there and arrested accused Tariq Sheikh while his accomplice Shabbir Butt, former constable, made good his escape. They also recovered the contraband besides a Kalashnikov and cartridges.
