MANSEHRA, May 30: Indonesia’s Chief of Army Staff Djoko Sandoso on Wednesday visited the quake-affected areas of Mansehra district and expressed deep shock and sorrow over the loss of lives and property in the 2005 earthquake, it is learnt.

Frontier Works Organisation Brigadier Muhammad Naseem briefed Mr Sandoso about the October 8 earthquake and the Karakoram Highway.

Mr Sandoso was informed that the earthquake had damaged the infrastructure of the Northern Areas where the reconstruction work was under way.

The Brigadier said that the widening of the Karakuram Highway was in progress, adding that China would work on the highway from the Khunjrab Top to Thakot, while the work from Hasanabdal to Thakot would be carried out by Pakistan.
