GUJRANWALA, May 29: A nazim of union council and his men were arrested on the charge of kidnapping a councillor in Ahmad Nagar on Tuesday.

Minority councillor Ashfaq Masih of Kalaki took part in a no-confidence move against nazim Umar Rauf Cheema a few days ago.

It is stated that Ashfaq was present in his house when the accused and his men kidnapped him and took him to a dera (outhouse) near the village. Ashfaq’s wife Bushra informed the police which raided the dera and recovered him.

Police have registered a case and arrested the accused.

Meanwhile, Umar alleged that the case was registered at the behest of an MPA.

DOUBLE SHAH: A charge sheet against Syed Sibtul Hasan Shah alias Double Shah was forwarded to special public prosecutor of anti-terrorism court No 2 by the public prosecution department on Tuesday.

Wazirabad Saddar investigation officer Sub-Inspector Zubair had submitted the charge sheet a few days ago which was returned by the department with some objections. But, the police could not remove the objection and resubmitted it to the public prosecution department.

However, the special public prosecutor said he has not yet received the charge sheet.

Meanwhile, three agents of Double Shah, Ibrar, Imtiaz and Shahid, who were in NAB custody, could not be produced before the anti-terrorism court.

The court adjourned the hearing for June 4.
