HARIPUR, May 29: A man and his mother confessed to kidnapping and killing a girl here on Tuesday, police said.

A resident of Kamalpur Hattar village, the girl went missing from her home on May 6 and her body was found near Hattar on May 14. Her autopsy confirmed that she had been raped before being strangulated.

The girl’s family nominated Javed and his sons Asad and Rashid in the FIR. The arrested accused were sent on judicial remand to Haripur jail.

However, police later arrested one Zeeshan Mustafa of Telephone and Telegraph Colony and his mother Waheeda on suspicion of their involvement in the murder.

According to Hattar SHO Jehanzeb Khan, Zeeshan and his mother had confessed to the crime. Hattar police registered a case and presented the accused in a court, which sent them to jail.
