KHAIRPUR, May 29: Anjuman-i-Tajiran Khairpur chairman Qutbuddin Shaikh and Khairpur Abadgar Ittehad president Shakir Shah have deplored lack of basic facilities at Khairpur railway station, including drinking water and fans and tube-lights on platforms.

Talking to journalists on Tuesday, they said that motor of the tube-well supplying water to the railway station had been out of order for last three months due to which passengers found no drinking water there. They said that electric fans and tube-lights at the platforms had gone out of order but had not been replaced.

They said that floors of the platforms had developed ditches due to which passengers -- particularly women, children and the sick and elderly -- face difficulties while rushing to broad trains at night time. They added that some passengers had suffered injuries after falling on the uneven and damaged floors of the platforms. They said that the toilets at the railway station were in bad condition.

They said that criminal activities had increased at the railway station.
