LAHORE, May 28: A division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on a plea of 14 petitioners who want to be a party in a quashment petition moved by Syed Sibtul Hasan, alias Double Shah, asked him and the Punjab government to reply on June 6.

Asia Bano and Ghulam Zohra and 12 others from Gujranwala and Wazirabad moved the petition.

Petitioners’ counsel Dr A Basit told the bench, comprising justices Syed Shabbar Raza Rizvi and Hasnat Ahmad Khan, the money scheme of Double Shah looked like a scam and had attracted widespread public attention.

He said judicial notice of the fact should be taken.

A division bench of the LHC on May 21 while admitting for regular hearing a petition by Double Shah seeking quashment of proceedings against him issued notices to the respondents. The bench also directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the Lahore capital city police officer, and the city police officer, Gujranwala Range, to submit their reports and comments till the next date to be fixed by the LHC office.
