KARACHI, May 28: Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil on Monday directed all union council nazims to expedite mass contact drive to solve problems faced by public on priority basis. She said this while talking to UC Nazims of Baldia, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Jamshed towns in separate meetings. Nasreen Jalil said close liaison between people and elected representatives was the need of the hour because it would help solve problems. Besides, she said drive for awareness about cleanliness should also be launched in every union council.

“Better results of cleanliness cannot be achieved unless UC nazims supervise this work themselves,” she observed.

Ms Jalil said the city government was committed to keep the city clean and green and better results in this regard could be achieved with teamwork.

She said the city district government was supervising uplift of main roads and corridors while towns and UCs were responsible to carry out work in their respective localities. She said 472 garbage containers provided by the city government to towns were being used to dispose of solid waste and garbage.—PPI
