HYDERABAD, May 27: More activists and office-bearers of Pakistan Muslim League resigned from the basic membership of the party in protest against party leaders’ indifference of their problems and in solidarity with their senior colleagues S. M. Ilyas and Mehboob Junejo who tendered resignations a couple of days ago.

Party activists from Latifabad taluka, Punnu Jatoi, Mohammad Aslam, Mohammad Nawaz Parhiar and Manzoor Ali who claimed to be party organisers told a news conference at the press club that after sincere and committed leaders like S. M. Ilyas and Mehboob Junejo left the party they found it difficult to stay, therefore, they were resigning along with dozens of their colleagues.

The leadership had nominated only three office-bearers Mir Sher Mohammad Talpur, Qari Mushtaq Farooqui and Sharif Koti as president, general secretary and information secretary, respectively, of the district. But their performance up till now was zero, they complained.

They said that all the four talukas of the district and 52 UCs were without office-bearers. PML-Q had 55,000 members on the roll but there were not even 1000 on the ground, they said.

They criticised the party’s district president Mir Sher Mohammad Talpur and said that he did not even know the strength of his workers in UC-1 of Latifabad where he resided.

They rejected the leaders’ claim that S. M. Ilyas and Mehboob Junejo had been suspended two months ago and said there was no proof on record about their suspension.
