CPNE deplores threats

Published May 27, 2007

KARACHI, May 26: The Sindh Committee of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) has deplored the threat hurled by the Mohajir Rabita Council (MRC) against journalists.

The committee called upon Federal Housing Minister Safwanullah to ensure that his name was not used in such threats.

“The Mohajir Rabita Council is seeking to inflame the situation in Karachi by engaging in wild allegations.”

The committee also urged the Muttahida Qaumi Movement to take note of the threats made to journalists by the Mohajir Rabita Council.

The CPNE said the MRC’s statement contained the most `deplorable allegations against the print and electronic media’.—PPI
