KASUR, May 26: Another government official has defied the authority of the ARD-backed district nazim. It was learnt that District Nazim Rana Muhammad Hayat directed Pattoki tehsil DDO (R) Riaz Ahmed Shad, having the backing of a federal minister, to address the problem of one of his voters. But, the DDO (R) starkly refused to obey his orders that later led to a squabble between the official and the district nazim.
The DDO (R) later submitted an application to the Kasur DCO alleging that the district nazim had threatened him with dire consequences. He said that he did not entertain the application of Raodar Khan of Pattoki, who was involved in a case of lifting crop from the Aquaf land.
Mr Shad also wrote to the Punjab chief minister regarding the spiteful conduct of the district nazim. He alleged that the district nazim was creating hurdles in his official work.
When contacted, Mr Hayat said that DDO Shad was playing politics at the cost of public welfare projects. He said some people, including Sami Khan and Ghulam Haider, lodged a complaint with him that the DDO had refused to resolve their problems.
The district nazim further alleged that the official had told the applicants that he would only comply with the orders of the federal minister who got him appointed. Patwaris had also recently observed a week-long strike against the corrupt officials, he added.
