MUZAFFARGARH, May 25: New school buildings are cropping up in Muzaffargarh. The deaths of four girls in a wall collapse of a public school in Alipur on May 4 have opened the eyes of the district administration and other departments concerned. Now the National Logistic Cell (NLC), tasked with building schools, has vowed to complete the phased-construction of the school buildings before the stipulated time.

NLC Regional Project Manager Colonel Tabassumul Saqib Butt and NLC Muzaffargarh Regional Manager Major Khalid said the NLC would construct 16 schools in a one-month phase which earlier were completed in three months.

According to District Monitoring Team Officer Syed Naveed Alam, there are 350 schools which have been declared dangerous and can collapse any time.

The NLC has completed the first phase of construction and celebrated it with a ceremony at the Government Primary School Chak 590 in Daira Din Pannah.

Addressing the ceremony, District Coordination Officer Dr Akhtar Nazeer Warraich said the district government would not let the history of the Ghalwan school repeat.

He said that he would take personal interest in the construction of school buildings. He appealed to the people to inform him about the school buildings needed to be repaired.
