ISLAMABAD, May 23: The deputy secretary-general of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), Liaquat Baloch, has said that all opposition parties, except the PPP, have confirmed their participation in the National Consultative Conference to be held on May 25.

The conference has been convened by MMA president Qazi Hussain Ahmed to work out a plan for protests in connection with the presidential reference against Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudghry.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, the MMA leader said that if the opposition parties in the Balochistan Assembly agreed to form a combined opposition, the religious alliance would quit the provincial government.

Sources told Dawn that the consultative conference would also discuss matters relating to the multi-party meeting convened by PML (N) leader Mian Nawaz Sharif in London.
