GUJRANWALA, May 22: A matric student was drowned while 22 other people were saved when a boat capsized in the Chenab river near Shahbazpur, Wazirabad, on Tuesday.
It is stated that the boat was overloaded.
The people of the area reached the spot and rescued them.
HUMAN TRAFFICKER: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed on Tuesday to have arrested an alleged human trafficker after an encounter and recovered important documents and illicit arms from his possession.
On receiving secret information about the movement of the accused, a raiding party, led by inspectors Mian Sabir and Rao Naserullah, set up a picket on Daska Road.
They signalled his car to stop, but he opened fire on the FIA team and tried to escape. The fire was returned and the accused reportedly surrendered. He was identified as Zafar Cheema.
FIA said he was involved in 17 cases of human smuggling.
ARRESTED: Meanwhile, FIA arrested 24 people who were deported from Turkey on Tuesday.
The deportees said many Pakistanis were still in jails in Turkey.
