RAWALPINDI, May 22: Serious differences that emerged between the inspector-general of Islamabad police and the SSP traffic Islamabad over a proposed traffic plan for Pakistan Muslim League (PML)’s May 12 rally in the federal capital ended in the removal of the SSP on Tuesday, official sources said.

Dr Sultan Azam Temuri, the SSP traffic, has been directed by the federal government to report to the Establishment Division while his replacement is yet to be nominated.

It all started two days before the rally, when the SSP presented a traffic plan to the IGP, Iftikhar Ahmed Chaudhry, at his office.

The IGP rejected the proposed traffic plan and reportedly used harsh words against the traffic police chief.

A source revealed that seeing the IGP’s attitude, the SSP traffic thought it better to go on leave and requested the IGP for seven-day’s off.
