KARACHI, May 22: Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro of PPP has accused the Muttahida Qaumi Movement of having adopted double standards in politics.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, he said it was intriguing to note that the MQM leadership was trying to project itself as a moderate party but soon after the May 12 events, it started targeting the PPP, apparently upon receiving signals from its mentor, Gen Musharraf.

“MQM chief Altaf Hussain sheds crocodile tears over the martyrdom of the late PPP founder, Z.A. Bhutto, and his son, Mir Murtaza Bhutto, in an open letter, but his minions at the ‘Nine Zero’ are flogging the dead horse of the Al-Zulfikar to declare the Karachi-based PPP leaders ‘terrorists’.”

He said people watched live footage of Altaf’s address to a small MQM rally on May 12 while, according to him, the MQM’s terrorist wing was busy attacking workers of other parties on Sharea Faisal.—Staff Reporter
