BAHAWALPUR, May 21: The DPO has suspended Ahmadpur East city police station SHO Ikram Shah and Sub-Inspector Ghulam Shabbir for their alleged help to the owner of a brothel.

Police on the complaint of Shagufta Mumtaz registered an FIR against Najma who escaped before the police raid on her house. The complainant alleged that objectionable CDs were in the possession of Najma.

Meanwhile, city union council No 13 nazim Malik Majid Channar alleged that he was being threatened to help victim Shagufta Mumtaz.

It may be recalled that Shagufta, with the assistance of the nazim, had narrated her ordeal at the hands of Najma at a press conference recently.

RALLY: The MMA and the PML-N took out a rally against the May 12 Karachi massacre by the MQM here on Monday.

Led by MMA deputy parliamentary leader in the Punjab Assembly Dr Syed Wasim Akhtar and PML-N district president and ex-MNA Mumtaz Ahmad Jajja, the rally was brought out from Kashmir Park near GPO.

The participants marched up to Library Chowk. Their leaders addressed them at Farid Gate and accused the MQM and the government of hatching a conspiracy in which 48 people were killed in two days of violence in Karachi.

A heavy police contingent accompanied the rally, which terminated at Kashmir Park.
