LAHORE, May 21: A three-member committee, led by the DIG (investigation), has been formed to set criteria for the performance evaluation of divisional superintendents of police (SPs).
Capital city police officer Malik Iqbal announced this while presiding over a meeting of officers of Lahore police here on Monday
Their performance would now be evaluated through arrests of proclaimed offenders, court absconders, gangsters, measures taken for the elimination of street crime, kite flying, display of arms and firing in their jurisdiction.
The CCPO said all officers and officials would have to perform for the elimination of crime and warned that any negligence and inefficiency on their part would not be tolerated.
The committee, which comprises SSP (operations) Aftab Cheema and SSP (administration) Farooq Mazhar Khan, would also set targets keeping in view the crime situation.
He directed that a team headed by the SSP (discipline and inquiry) and comprising SP (women), DSP (women), PSO to CCPO and all inspectors posted at the CCPO office should be formed to pay surprise visits and ensure strict security measures at important installations, seminaries, trade centres, wagon and bus stands and public places following the recent wave of subversive acts in the country.
The committee would also identify the shortcomings in this regard.
The meeting, lasted for three hours, also reviewed crime situation at division, circle and police station level.
DIG (investigation) Tassaduq Husain briefed the meeting about the progress of investigation wing, while the SSP (operations) highlighted the strategy for elimination of crime in the city.
