ISLAMABAD, May 21: The Acting Chief Justice and Judges of the Apex Court have decided not to avail the summer vacations in full, with a view to clear the backlog and pending cases.
This was decided in a Full Court meeting held here Monday with Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan (ACJ) Justice Rana Bhagwandas in the chair.
It was decided that they would work for 4-6 weeks during the vacation at the principal seat, Islamabad as well as branch registries of the court at provincial headquarters.
According to a press release, the meeting was attended by Judges and Registrar of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The Full Court noted that the backlog of the cases had increased during last three months and the Full Court reiterated its commitment to continue to work with zeal and enthusiasm to decide cases expeditiously.
Earlier, the full court offered fateha for Additional Registrar Supreme Court, Syed Hamad Amjad Raza, who was killed recently.
