KARACHI, May 21: Demanding due punishment to the perpetrators of May 12 incidents, Pakistan Muslim League-Q Sindh Information Secretary Haleem Adil Shaikh warned Pakhtuns that some elements had targeted them to push the city into ethnic riots.

Addressing a press conference at the party office on Monday, he said some elements for their vested interests tried to attain their political objectives under the cover of a judicial issue. “The Loya Jirga, which was formed to protect the fundamental interests of Pakhtuns, is being used for political objectives of the opposition,” he said.Mr Shaikh said everyone in Karachi had equal right and any attempt to trample this right would be foiled. The PML would foil the designs of vested interests to divide the city on ethnic lines and would never allow anyone to create hurdles in the city’s development.

He requested the federal leadership of the party to send Pakhtun representatives like Gohar Ayub Khan, Salim Saifullah Khan and Fazle Agha to forewarn Pakhtun community living in Karachi about the conspiracy being hatched against them.
