KARACHI, May 20: The executive committee of the Federal Urdu University has drawn the attention of President Pervez Musharraf to the activities of a pressure group that was blocking implementation of the decisions taken by the university’s senate.

The committee, which met here on Sunday under the chairmanship of its acting president Khurram Ashraf, passed a resolution against the group, observing that it had exerted immense pressure on deputy chairman of the senate to prevent him from forwarding a report to President Musharraf, Chancellor of the university, on teachers’ promotion.

Abdul Ghafoor, Shaheen Akhter, Najmul Aarfeen, Suleman D. Mohammad, Mohammad Shafi Azad and Prof Nasir Abbas were among those who attended the meeting.

The meeting observed that the situation in the university was worsening adversely affecting academic and administrative activities.

Taking notice of the inactivity of the Graduate Research Management Group of the university over the past many years, the meeting demanded its early revival.
