KARACHI, May 19: Commenting on some opposition parties’ attempts to approach the British government for expelling MQM chief Altaf Hussain for his alleged involvement in the Karachi killings, Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said there will be other reasons and designs of the British government and not the May 12 incidents if it contemplates any action against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader.

“Neither the crime was committed in Britain nor did Altaf Hussain send his troops from London to carryout bloodshed in Karachi. It is just as absurd as that,” Dr Rahim said while talking to reporters at a book launching ceremony at the Arts Council Auditorium here on Saturday.

“Altaf Bhai is the first Pakistani politician who has been given the British passport and if the British government is doing anything against him, it will be other reasons and designs and not the Karachi killings,” he said.
