LAHORE, May 17: The Sindh government will accelerate its de-weaponisation campaign in Karachi and take every possible step to make it more effective, says Federal Information Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani.
Talking to newsmen at the residence of National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Amir Husain, after Quran Khawani for his wife, he said: “Karachi is mercifully returning to normal, giving some space to law-enforcing agencies to take steps for ridding the city of weapons.”
Responding to a question about the ability of the government to disarm MQM, he said no one was above the law and it would be enforced on everyone in letter and spirit.
The minister said the government was alive to the situation and would never let it spin out of control.
About the possibility of Chief Justice of Pakistan visiting the city again, the minister said Karachi belonged to all Pakistanis and no one could be stopped from visiting it.
