Dist council favours CJP

Published May 18, 2007

JHANG, May 17: The Jhang district council on Thursday passed a unanimous resolution expressing solidarity with Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry. The resolution also condemned the killing of innocent people in Karachi by armed men of a political party on May 12 on the eve of the CJP’s visit.

The resolution, moved jointly by Dr Abdul Hasan and Abuzar Bharwana in the house overwhelmingly dominated by the pro-government elements, was passed without a semblance of any opposition in the presence of the district nazim, the naib nazim and the district coordination officer.

Earlier in the day, a new dimension was added to the pro-chief justice movement after students also joined hands with lawyers and political workers to exhibit their wrath against the government.
