LAHORE, May 15: Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed of the Lahore High Court on

Tuesday observed that the politicians often interfered in posting and transfer matters in different departments, overlooking their actual responsibilities.

The judge observed this while suspending transfer orders of a clerk issued by a Jhang executive district officer and issued notice to the respondent for a reply.

Petitioner Muhammad Nasarullah submitted that he had joined the office of Jhang DCO as a junior clerk in Oct 1990, and was later promoted to the rank of senior clerk in 2004.

He submitted that his immediate boss, the EDO, transferred him to the Sadar Colony Branch, Jhang. He said after some months he was again transferred to DDO’s office, and then for the third time to some other place.

He submitted during the period of six months he was transferred thrice, which was unlawful.

He stated that according to the departmental policy, the minimum tenure of a government functionary at one station was one year.

He further submitted that Muhammad Abdullah, who had replaced him, had got himself transferred through political influence to a senior post, whereas he was working at a junior post despite being the senior clerk.

He prayed that his recent transfer order be cancelled by declaring it illegal and unlawful.
