KHAIRPUR, May 14: Notables of different tribes, with the assistance of government officials, helped settle an old dispute between Chang and Mashori tribes at a meeting at the Circuit House on Sunday.

The meeting heard statements read out by the two warring communities and then gave its decision in presence of tribal leaders and journalists.

According to the decision, an amount of Rs400,000 would be paid as blood money for each murder to the aggrieved families in two instalments.

However, the final decision would be given after an oath taking ceremony which was scheduled to be held in Pir Jo Goth on Friday.

The meeting also decided that in case either party went against the decision, it would have to pay Rs200,000 as fine.

People belonging to the two communities were brought to Circuit House under police security.

Mashoris community claimed that four persons of their community were killed in the ongoing Chang-Mashori tribal dispute whereas Chang community claimed that two persons were killed and one injured from their side.

The Chang-Mashori tribal dispute has been going on for last six to seven years in Faiz Gunj taluka and have so far claimed many lives and harmed education and economic activities in the area.
