LAHORE, May 12: Head of the MQM Lawyers Forum and joint in charge of the party’s Lahore zone, advocate Tahir Naeem resigned on Saturday.
In his resignation, Mr Naeem said `unwarranted advertisements’ got published by the MQM Legal Aid Committee against the unprecedented struggle of lawyers for the supremacy of law and constitution was a bad precedent.
Mr Naeem further said that he was also greatly dejected on the deviation from the right path by the party, when, in lieu of supporting the rightful stance of the lawyers, the rally was announced against it on the same day, which was the day of arrival of Justice Chaudhry in Karachi to address the Sindh High Court Bar Association. “It provided an opportunity to secret hands to play foul game of bloodshed,” he added.
The advocate said that he would continue his journey on the right path in every walk of life and would never make any deviation, no matter how heavy the cost was, as he had also previously resigned from the post of judge twice in order to uphold his moral principles and to struggle for the rule of law.
He termed the unprecedented struggle of lawyers a golden chapter in the history of Pakistan. —Staff Reporter
