ISLAMABAD, May 11: Confusion prevailed in the city among parents and students over the holding of Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) examinations in the wake of a pro-Musharraf rally to be held near the Parliament House on Saturday.

However, late Friday night, the FBISE announced the postponement of HSSC English Paper-II and SSC physics practical examination in Islamabad and Karachi that were to be held on Saturday. But the other exams held under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), would go ahead as per schedule.

The HSSC and SSC examinations at other centres in the country will, however, be held as scheduled.

It is a matter of concern for parents who spent the entire day on Friday ensuring that their children reached their respective examination centres safely and on time, as the federal and provincial ministers had announced that they would flood Islamabad with Gen Pervez Musharraf’s supporters.

For the last one week the government machinery has been busy making arrangements for the success of the rally.

Mr Razzaq, a concerned father, said: “It seems the government has completely lost sense and have no concern for the general public”.

In response to a question, he said: “Considering the growing trend of violence on such occasions, I am more worried about the security of my son than his examination.”

According to a press note issued by the Islamabad district administration, students appearing in various examinations have been asked to keep traffic constraints in mind while making their journey to their examination centres.
