SWABI, May 11: NWFP Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Malik Zafar Azam on Friday accused secret agencies of carrying out blasts in CD shops in Mardan and Charsadda and said they were trying to defame the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal’s government in the NWFP.

Addressing a function here on Friday, Mr Zafar said that suicide attacks and bomb blasts were well-planned conspiracies hatched by the federal government for weakening the alliance-led government.

Rejecting the federal government’s contentions, he said that the explosions were not the work of students of religious seminaries but were being carried out by well-trained people, adding that no seminary student could possibly know of explosive materials in such details.

He said that the federal government knew perfectly well what was really happening in the Frontier province.

He said that the total strength of police in the NWFP was 30,000 and two renowned DIGs – Malik Saeed Khan and Abid Ali – had been killed, adding that two other police officers had laid down their lives in the Charsadda suicide attack.

The provincial law minister said that under an agreement with the army, a technical training institute would be set up in Swabi at a cost of Rs500 million.

Mr Zafar said that youths would be able to earn a three-month diploma, enabling them to handle and repair heavy machinery like bulldozers and cranes.

“This institute would put the district Swabi on the route of progress and prosperity because young people would get technical training to earn their livelihood with dignity and honour,” he said.
